Klix or Kluksch ( German: Klix ; V.-puddle. Klukš ) Is a village in Upper Luzitsa , Germany . It is part of the Grossdubrau commune of the Bautzen district in Saxony . Submits to the administrative district of Dresden .

Geography

It is located in the southern part of the Lugice Lakes, about eleven kilometers northeast of the city of Bautzen . Numerous fish ponds are located to the east of the village, among which the largest is Lukastayh. The highway S101 passes through the village.

Flugplatz Klix airfield, located in the southern part of the neighboring village of Zjar , is named after the village.

Neighboring settlements: in the northeast - the village of Likhan , in the southeast - the village of Zalgov , in the west - the village of Brezina of the Malschwitz commune and in the northwest - the village of Zjar [2] .

History

First mentioned in 1222 under the name Klix [3] .

Until 1994, it was the administrative center of the eponymous commune. Since 1994, it has been part of the modern commune of Grossdubrau [4] .

Currently, the village is part of the cultural and territorial autonomy of the “ Luzhitsky Settlement Region ”, on the territory of which there are legislative acts of the lands of Saxony and Brandenburg, contributing to the preservation of the Luzhitsky languages and the culture of Luzhic [5] [6] .

Population

The official language in the village, in addition to German , is also Upper Luzhsky .

According to the statistical work “Dodawki k statisticy a etnografiji łužickich Serbow” by Arnost Muki, in 1884, 409 people lived in the village (of which 390 were Serboluzhichans (95%)) [8] .

Luzhitsky demographer Arnosht Chernik in his essay Die Entwicklung der sorbischen Bevölkerung indicates that in 1956, with a total population of 1048 people, the Serbluzhitsky population of the village was 51.7% (of which 414 adults and 128 minors were fluent in Upper Luzhsky) [9] .
