Biography
In 1948 - 1959 he studied in Anykščiai secondary school. In 1960 - 1966 he studied at the State Art Institute in Vilnius (now the Vilnius Academy of Art ) under the leadership of Juozas Kedainis .
Creativity
The sculptor is the author of the tombstone of Antanas Joninus ( 1978 ), installed on the central square of Vilkaviskis in 1996 a monument to the Lithuanian writer and composer, author of the national anthem of Lithuania Vintsas Kudirka . Zhukauskas is the author of Zigmas ямemaitis commemorative medal, mathematician and enlightener, established in 1984; according to the decision of the Board of the Mathematical Society of Lithuania, it is awarded for services to the Lithuanian education, culture and science. His best-known works are familiar to almost every Lithuanian resident and are quite well known outside the country: they are negotiable coins of modern Lithuania in denominations of 1 (issues 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002; adaptations of the coat of arms of Arvydas Kajdailis), 2 (issues 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002; adaptation of the coat of arms of Arvydas Kazhdailis), 5 (issues 1998, 1999, 2000; avers together with Arvydas Kazhdailis) litas .
The author of the design is also a number of special and commemorative coins:
- 1998 5 Litas according to the UNICEF program “Children of the World” (circulation 25,000, silver 925, diameter 38, 61 mm).
- 1998 50 litas from the Rulers of Lithuania series - Grand Duke of Lithuania Algirdas (together with Giedrus Paulauskas; circulation 4,000, silver 925, diameter 34.00 mm) according to the UNICEF program “Children of the World”.
- 1999 50 litas from the Rulers of Lithuania series - Grand Duke of Lithuania Kestutis (together with Petras Gintalas; circulation 2 500, silver 925, diameter 34 mm, weight 23, 3 g).
- 1999 50 litas to the 10th anniversary of the Baltic Way (circulation 4,000, silver 925, diameter 38, 61 mm, weight 28, 28 g; a similar working coin from an alloy of metals with a nominal value of 1 lit).
- 2000 100 litas from the Rulers of Lithuania series - the Grand Duke of Lithuania Vytautas (circulation 2,000, gold 999.9, diameter 22.3 mm, weight 7.78 g).
- 2000 50 litas from the Rulers of Lithuania series - Grand Duke Vytautas of Lithuania (circulation 2,500, silver 925, diameter 34 mm, weight 23, 3 g).
- 2000 50 litas to the XXVII Olympic Games in Sydney (circulation 4,000, silver 925, diameter
38, 61 mm, weight 28, 28 g).
- 2005 50 litas for the 150th anniversary of the Lithuanian National Museum (circulation 1,500, silver 925, diameter 38, 61 mm; price 70 litas, in a representative case 90 litas).
In 2004, the project of Antanas укаukuskas won the first place in the competition for the Lithuanian version of the euro . On the reverse of coins of all virtues, the Lithuanian coat of arms “Chase” is depicted and the inscription “Lietuva” is placed. It was planned to start issuing coins in 2007 .
