Biography

Florika Bucur was born on May 18, 1959.

The first serious success at the adult international level was achieved in the 1980 season, when she joined the main team of the Romanian national team and thanks to a series of successful performances she was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the Summer Olympic Games in Moscow . The crew, which also included rowers, Angelika Apostyanu , Marlena Predescu-Zagoni , Rodica Fryntu , Elena Bondar , Rodica Pushkatu , Ana Ilyuta , Maria Konstantinesku and helmsman Elena Dobritsu , showed the third result in the program of oar steering eights, skipping forward from East Germany crews and the Soviet Union, who came to the finish line first and second, respectively - thereby won the bronze Olympic medal. For all that, because of the political boycott, some strong representatives of Western countries, such as the USA, Canada, and the Netherlands, were absent at these Games, and in this connection the general competition was less.

After the Moscow Olympics, Bucur for some time remained in the rowing team of Romania and continued to take part in major international regattas. So, in 1981, she visited the World Championships in Munich , from where she brought another award of bronze dignity - here she lost to the finish athletes from the USSR and the USA. Soon after the end of these competitions, she decided to end her sports career [1] [2] .
