Hermelin, Honorin

Honorin Hermelin ( Swede. Honorine Hermelin , full name Honorine Louise Hermelin , in marriage Grönbech ; 1886 - 1977 ) - Swedish feminist , teacher and translator, founder of the group Vogelstad .

Born on October 19, 1886, in the Ekebüborn parish in Estergötland. She was the youngest of two brothers and sisters in the family of landowner Baron and his wife Honorina von Koch ( Honor von Koch ), who died ten days after the birth of Honorina. The girl grew up in an educated and cultural environment. Her uncle was the writer and translator Baron , who taught all children German language. Father married Jane von Koch and seven more children were born in the new family.

Honorin attended school Brummerska skolan in Stockholm . Her best friend was Harriet Lowenhelm , with whom Honorina later studied at the seminar for Anna Sandström’s teachers ( Anna Sandströms högre lärarinneseminarium ). After studying chemistry, religion and history, she worked as a teacher for the next ten years.

Honorin Hermelin became best known as a member of the Vogelstad Group, founding the Kvinnliga medborgarskolan vid Fogelstad Women's School in Vogelstad , where she was the principal throughout the school’s existence (1925–1954), and also worked as a teacher. The school in Vogelstad was called Lilla Ulfåsa . Honorin had radical ideas about pedagogy, inspired by Immanuel Kant and the Danish priest and educator Nikolai Grundtvig . In 1954 she was awarded the Illis Quorum Medal (8th grade).

She died on September 4, 1977 in the parish of Bronnkürk in Stockholm.

She was married to in 1947, but he died after eight months of marriage.
