Lemieux was born Drummondville . Previously, she worked as a cabinetmaker and first moved to Tre-Saint-Redampter in 2009 [2] . For the first time, she was involved in politics as part of a successful campaign to preserve a closed Roman Catholic church that had previously been planned to be demolished [2] . In 2013, Lemieux was first elected to the municipal council [3] . Her political program included improving communication between elected officials and villagers [3] and allowing residents [2] . In the elections, Lemieux received 48 percent of the vote, while the then mayor, Jean Lalond, received only 23 percent [3] .
