Patarnieki ( Latvian: Patarnieki ; previously also Paternieki, Paterniki - Latvian. Pāternieki, Paterniki [2] ) - a settlement in the Kraslava region of Latvia , part of the Piedrujas parish . It is located on the right bank of the Rositsa River, on the A6 highway, near the state border with Belarus . The distance from the volost center - the village of Piedruya is 9 km, from the regional city of Kraslava - 33 km.

2 km east of the village is located the same car checkpoint on the Belarusian-Latvian border . From the Belarusian side, the Grigorovschina checkpoint corresponds to it. It is one of two international automobile checkpoints on the border of Latvia with Belarus.
In Soviet times, the settlement was part of the Kraslava district [1] .
