Biography
Born September 15, 1873 in Stockholm in the family of a priest and writer .
She began to engage in social and political activities. In 1902, she founded the local branch of the National Association for the Political Rights of Women ( Landsföreningen för kvinnans politiska rösträtt , LKPR ) in Uppsala and was its chairman until dissolution in 1923. She also participated in various movements at the national level, including for the equal rights of women in elections. Ellen Hagen was characterized by contemporaries as a good speaker. She dealt with issues of peace and disarmament in 1920-1930 and participated as a Swedish delegate at the disarmament conference in Paris in 1931. Ellen Hagen was chairman of the Confederation of Liberal Women ( Liberala kvinnor ) in 1938–1946 and the Swedish Women's Association ( Svenska Kvinnors Medborgarförbund ) in 1936–1963.
Along with political and social activities, Hagen wrote biographical books, including a biography of her relative, . She also lectured on social issues in various cities in Sweden.
She died on September 15, 1967 in Toby.
Family
Ellen was married to (1868-1922), who had been Governor of Gavleborg County for some time. Spouses are buried in Uppsala Old Cemetery. [7] They were the parents of the Swedish diplomat ; their granddaughter Cecilia became a journalist and writer.
