Biography
Ginka Gyurova was born on April 15, 1954.
The first serious success at the adult international level was in the 1975 season, when she joined the main team of the Bulgarian national team and attended the World Championships in Nottingham , from where she brought the silver dignity, won in the offset of the oar steering fours - only the team from the German Democratic Republic passed ahead .
Thanks to a series of successful performances, she won the right to defend the country's honor at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal - as part of a four-seater steering crew, which also included rowers Mariyka Modeva , Reni Yordanova , Lilyana Vaseva and steering Kapka Georgieva , in the final final race she came to the finish line second, losing a little more than three seconds to a team from East Germany, and thereby won a silver Olympic medal.
After the Montreal Olympics, Gurova remained in the rowing team of Bulgaria for another Olympic cycle and continued to take part in major international regattas. So, in 1978, she performed at the world championship in Karapiro , where she took fourth place in the program of wheelless twos.
In 1979, at the World Championships in Bled, she became the sixth in a non-steering two.
Being among the leaders of the Bulgarian national team, it successfully passed the selection for the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow - here, together with Marika Modeva, Rita Todorova , Iskra Velinova and helmsman Nadia Filipova , she again finished behind the East German crew in the swing fours and added another silver to the track record Olympic medal. Soon after the end of these competitions, she decided to end her sports career.
