Geography
It is located at the border with the Goerlitz region near the eastern foot of the Chernoboh hill (Czorneboh, Čornobóh, 534 m.). A pass passes through the village from Plotzen to Leino and then to the village of Kleindehsa in the Lavalde commune of Goerlitz.
Neighboring settlements: in the north-east - the villages of Stveszyn and Neznarovy of the Löbau commune, in the south - the village of Dazhin of the Löbau commune and in the north-west - the village of Leino [2] .
History
First mentioned in 1276 under the name Jawernic [3] .
Until 1957, it was part of the Lena commune, and from 1957 to 1993, it was part of the Plotzen commune. Since 1993, it has been part of the modern commune Hochkirch [4] .
Currently, the village is part of the cultural and territorial autonomy of the “ Luzhitsky Settlement Region ”, on the territory of which there are legislative acts of the lands of Saxony and Brandenburg, contributing to the preservation of the Luzhitsky languages and the culture of Luzhic [5] [6] .

Population
The official language in the village, in addition to German , is also Upper Luzhsky .
According to the statistical work “Dodawki k statisticy a etnografiji łužickich Serbow” by Arnost Muki, in 1884, 4 people lived in the village (4 of them were Serbluzhichans (100%)) [8] .
