History

The station was opened in 1924 as part of the construction, traffic on the Kazlu-Ore - Shyashtokay line (1921-1924) was opened [3] . The station building was built in 1923-1925. according to the project of the Kaunas engineer [4] [3] [5] . The two-story brick building is made in the Art Nouveau style , one of the most richly decorated objects of this type in Lithuania [3] .

The layout of the building is asymmetric, taking into account the functional zoning for passenger and office premises: the central part is occupied by a spacious lobby, the left-hand side has ticket offices, luggage and administrative rooms. On the left side were a buffet, waiting rooms, toilets (ground floor). On the second floor there were office premises [6] . The facades are made of red brick, the crowning cornices and interfloor belts are finished with light stucco. The building is crowned by a pointed water tower with a tiled roof.

The restoration of the station was carried out in 1994-1997, 2004 and 2014 [4] .
