Augusto Weberbauer ( Spanish: Augusto Weberbauer ; German: August Weberbauer ; November 20, 1871 , Breslau - 1948 , Lima ) - German naturalist , botanist and teacher . He conducted a systematic study of the territory of Peru in search of new plant species.

Biography
He received his doctorate in botany from the University of Breslau in 1894, after which he continued his studies in natural sciences at the universities of Heidelberg and Berlin. He taught at the University of Breslau. In 1901, on the instructions of the Prussian Academy of Sciences in Berlin , he was sent to Peru for botanical research. In 1905, he brought back to Germany about 5,200 species of seaweed, which he collected in Peru. The government of Peru became interested in the success of the German botanist and in 1908 hired him to take up the development program of the national zoo. Since that year, he has been resident in Peru. He was awarded the Ph.D. degree at the National University of San Marcos in 1922. He taught there, was a professor of pharmaceutical chemistry (1923–1948) and systematic botany (1925–1948), and also led a seminar on botany (1935–1948).
He died in 1948.
The wild potato species S. neoweberbaueri , which was discovered by Weberbauer on the territory of Cape Morro Solar south of Lima , was named in 1914 by Ludwig Wittmack in honor of its discoverer [2] .
He also taught at the Alexander von Humboldt German School in Lima [3] .
