Shutov, Igor Vasilievich

Born 06/22/1929 in Voronezh. He graduated from the Khrenovsky Forestry College (1946) and the Leningrad Forestry Engineering Academy (1951).

All labor and scientific activities are related to the Leningrad (St. Petersburg) Research Institute of Forestry : graduate student, junior research fellow, head of the herbicide laboratory, deputy director for research, since 1999 - chief research fellow.

Scientific interests:

• the formation of new generations of forests on clear-cutting;
• changing the composition of forest cenoses using chemicals;
• increasing the productivity of taiga forests;
• accelerated (plantation) forest growing.

Doctor S.-kh. sciences (1972), professor (1983), corresponding member of RAAS (1993), corresponding member of RAS (2014).

Honored Arborist of the RSFSR (1991). He was awarded two orders of the Badge of Honor (1966, 1977), and the Veteran of Labor medal.

He has published over 100 scientific papers, including 4 monographs. Books:
