Childhood and Education
Irmena Chichikova was born in Plovdiv , Bulgaria , where she grew up. She received her elementary education at the French language school Antoine de Saint Exupéry, which she graduated in 2003, after which she moved to Sofia , where she continued her studies at the National Academy of Theater and Cinematographic Arts. Kraste Sarafova under the guidance of professors Margarita Mladenova and Ivan Dobchev.
At the same time I studied the Greek language. Her graduation performances included Three Cheers by Anton Chekhov , directed by Margarita Mladenova, and Dakota / Words in Chains by Jordi Galseran, directed by Stilian Petrov. After graduating in 2008, she became a professional graduated actress [1] .
Career
Chichikova made her debut on the professional stage in the play “The Art of Sweeping Things Under the Carpet” (2008) staged based on Ingmar Bergman ’s film “ Scenes from Matrimonial Life” as Marianne, for which she received a nomination for IKAR (2009) and the award for Best Female role at the ASKEER Theater Award (2009). After that, she played a role in the play of Nirvana (2009), for several years she toured in Canada and France with the play “ Building a Liberated Imagination” (2010) based on the works of Eugene Ionesco . The next significant role was played in the play “ Duck Hunt” (2012) by Alexander Vampilov in the Bulgarian National Theater of Ivan Vazov .
In 2012, she appeared in the film “ I Am You,” her appearance in the frame was favorably received by critics, and she received the main female award at the Golden Rose National Film Festival (2012). In 2014, she appeared in the film " Victoria" in the role of Boryana, the mother of an unusual girl named Victoria, who was born without an umbilical cord. The premiere of the tape took place at the World Sundance Film Festival .
