Sheng Kai (born July 7, 1973 , Yiyang ) is a modern Chinese writer , a member of the Chinese Writers' Union. In 1994 she moved to Shenzhen . Writing career began in 2002 . Her works have been translated into English, French, Russian, Japanese, and other languages [1] . The novel “Sisters from the North” in 2012 won the Man Asian Literary Prize .

Biography
Sheng Kai was born on July 7, 1973 in Yiyang City, Hunan Province. In 1994, the writer moved to Shenzhen, after which she lived for some time in Shenyang , Guangzhou , currently living in Beijing . The experience of frequent migration has played a large role in the creative career of the writer, being her inspiration [2] . Sheng Kai calls Shenzhen his second homeland, this is the place where she began to form as a writer [3] . At 21, she published her first essay, worked for some time as an editor and reporter. In 2002, at the age of 28, she quit and devoted herself entirely to writing.
Creativity
At the age of 28, Sheng Kaye wrote her first novel, Sisters from the North, which received wide recognition abroad and was translated into several foreign languages, including Russian. The novel reflects childhood memories and a seven-year experience of living in Shenzhen [4] . The writer also pays special attention to the women's issue, in particular, in the novel “Sisters from the North,” the difficulties that girls faced when migrating from rural to urban areas were touched upon. Sheng Kay's style is distinguished by straightforwardness in presenting real facts and sharp remarks, as well as heightened attention to the psychological state of the individual.
