The Early Years and Career

Kathleen Elinor Mulheron, later known as Sheila Terry, was born March 5, 1907 in Warrod ( Minnesota , USA ). Terry studied drama at the Dickson-Kenwin Academy, a school at the Royal Royal Academy. She later moved to New York , where she continued her studies and played in several plays. Appearing on Broadway in Little Racketer, she was spotted by someone from the movie industry and received an audition invitation that led to a contract with Warner Bros.

In the years 1927-1929, Terry worked as a school teacher in Minnesota .

In the 1930s, Terry played in the Warner Bros films. She appeared with John Wayne in Westerns “ Enchanted Gold "(1932); " Under the sky of Arizona "And" The border of lawlessness "(1934). She played in the crime drama “ 20,000 Years in Sing Sing ” (1932) with Bette Davis , Louis Calhern and Spencer Tracy and in the film Marion Goering “ Madame Butterfly "(1932), in which appeared with Cary Grant and Sylvia Sidney . In 1933, she briefly left Hollywood for the New York scene.

Personal life

From July 4, 1922 to 1924, Terry was married to actor Roy Sedley.

She married Major Lawrence E. Clark, a wealthy socialite in Toronto , on August 16, 1928. She divorced him on February 16, 1934.

In 1937, she married William Magee from San Francisco and left show business. After his death, Terry wanted to return to show business, but could not find a job.

She worked as a press agent for 15 years.

Death

In January 1957, her body was found in an apartment on the third floor, which was both her home and office. A friend and neighbor, Jerry Keating, went to her apartment when he was unable to contact her by phone. The door was locked and Terry did not answer the bell. Keating called the police; they broke open the door of the apartment and found Terry's body on the bedroom floor, her back leaning against the bed. Five contents capsules disappeared on the floor next to her. The official cause of death was called suicide by poisoning with sleeping pills.

Friends told police that she returned from a trip to Mexico a few days before her death and that she became ill when she returned home. Later it turned out that she died ruined; she only had a meager wardrobe. She was buried in Potter Field in New York .
