Description
Medium sized butterflies. Similar to Reinmara , but differ in a combination of the following features: the wings are wider, the edges are more square, the color is more earthy in hue, most species are light brown in color, some are darker. Males and females with double-crested antennae. The genus was first isolated in 1856 by the German entomologist Gottlieb August Gerrich-Schäffer ( Gottlieb August Wilhelm Herrich-Schäffer ; 1799-1874). The valid status of the taxon was confirmed during an audit in 2019 by American lepidopterologists Ryan Alexander St. Laurent ( Ryan A. St. Laurent , Cornell University , Department of Entomology, Ithaca , USA ) and Akito Y. Kawahara , University of Florida , Gainesville , Florida ) [1] [2] [3] .
