The South Shaolin Monastery ( Kit. 南 少林寺 , Pinyin : Nán Shàolín Sì , Pal .: Nan Shaolin Si ) is the name of a monastery in Fujian Province whose real existence and location is disputed.
History
The legend of the burning of the temple of South Shaolin appeared in the late Qing era and was recorded in a triad journal for Tiandihui sects in Guangdong Province . Legend has it that the emperor Kangxi ordered the monks-warriors of the monastery to go on a punitive campaign against the state of Silu. After the monks won, one of the traitorous dignitaries falsely accused the South Shaolin monastery that the monks were allegedly planning an uprising against the current government. Learning of this, the emperor Kangxi ordered the destruction of the monastery to the ground, and the soldiers of the eight-banner army raided the temple and set it on fire.
