Geography

The northernmost settlement in the municipality of Kubšiuc. It is located about seven kilometers northeast of Bautzen and four kilometers north of the administrative center of the commune. To the south of the village is the Flugplatz Bautzen Airport (ICAO-Code EDAB), colloquially called “Litten”.

Neighboring settlements: in the north - the village of Budyszyn of the Malschwitz commune, in the east - the village of Skaneci of the Malschwitz commune and in the west - the villages of Letoni and Krakets [2] .

History

First mentioned in 1222 under the name Porsiz [3] .

From 1934 to 1979, the village was part of the Litten commune, from 1979 to 1994 in the commune of Krekvits. Since 1994, it has been part of the modern commune of Kubšiuc [4] . In 1952, a part called Neupurschwitz was separated from the village, which became an independent settlement [5] .

Currently, the village is part of the cultural and territorial autonomy of the “ Luzhitsky Settlement Region ”, on the territory of which there are legislative acts of the lands of Saxony and Brandenburg, contributing to the preservation of the Luzhitsky languages and the culture of Luzhic [6] [7] .
