Ship Description
One of six small 8-gun single-decker prams of the “Flea” type [comm. 1] , built at the Tavrovsky shipyard . The vessel was 21 meters long, 5.8 meters wide and 1 meter draft. The armament of the vessel consisted of 8 guns [1] [2] [3] .
Building History
On April 8 ( 19 ), 1723 , Peter I signed a decree on the construction of ships in Tavrov for the future fleet, which was intended to fight for access to the Black Sea . According to the order in the same year, nine large 44-gun two-deckers and six small 8-gun single-deck prams were laid at the Tavrov shipyard . After the signing of the Russian-Turkish agreement in Constantinople on June 12 ( 23 ), 1724 , delimiting the possessions of Russia and Turkey, on October 1 ( 12 ), 1724 , a decree was issued to terminate the construction of ships. As a result, the prama was left unfinished on the slipways . In preparation for a new war with Turkey, on June 27 ( July 8 ), 1735 , a decree was issued by Empress Anna Ioannovna on completion, launching and preparation of ships built in Tavrov. As a result, all 6 Prams of the “Flea” type were launched in 1735 [comm. 2] [4] [5] [6] .
Service History
Pram "Cricket" took part in the Russian-Turkish war of 1735-1739 . In August 1735, the detachment was transferred from Tavrov to Pavlovsk . On April 2 ( 13 ), 1736 , he joined the detachment of Rear Admiral P. P. Bredal and left Pavlovsk to Azov, where he arrived by May 12 (23) [3] [7] .
Being part of a detachment of six small Prams under the command of Lieutenant of Major Rank Gur Kostomarov, he stood below the fortress to block access to the sea. In October 1736, as part of a detachment, he went to Cherkassk , where he got up for the winter. In April of the following year, the detachment again transferred to Azov. WITH3 ( 14 ) on May 19 (30), the detachment left at the mouth of the Mius River, and then all six small prams were forced to return to Azov, because according to the report of the detachment commander , they were unsuitable for further use [8] [9] :
hopeless, because they do not obey the steering wheel, and the bodies rot and flow.
In the fall of 1738, the “Cricket” program was dismantled due to the fact that it became completely unusable [3] [8] .
Ship Commanders
In 1737, the commander of the Pram "Cricket" served as lieutenant of major rank Ivan Bezobrazov [8] [10] ; information about the commanders of the pram in other years was not preserved.
