Biography
In everything, one could rely on the chief of staff of naval operations, Nikolai Alexandrovich Eremeev. He worked in GUSMP only three years, but managed to gain universal recognition and respect. Eremeev came to us from the fishing industry - he led the hunting vessels on the White Sea. I was impressed by his wide marine erudition, precise promptness and gluttony at work. Soon he became a leading naval specialist at the Glavsevmorput in the planning of Arctic transport and the organization of maritime operations.
From the dynasty of military sailors. He graduated from the St. Petersburg Naval Cadet Corps in 1917.
Since the 1920s lived and worked in Arkhangelsk.
In the 1930s led the fishing fleet operating in the White Sea.
In 1940, he held the position of head of the operation department of the Maritime Transport Authority of the Sea Transport Seaport.
By a decree of the Presidium of the USSR Supreme Soviet on 05/03/1940, he was awarded the Order of Honor, among other employees of the Glavsevmorputi. [2]
During the Great Patriotic War
In 1941 N. Yeremeyev was a member of a special commission sent by the USSR State Committee for Defense to Murmansk in order to determine the possibility of using it as a port for ships traveling with Lend-Lease cargo [3] . In 1942 he was the chief of staff of maritime operations of the Main Directorate of the Northern Sea Route on Dickson.
In August 1942, when after the death of the ship " Alexander Sibiryakov " there was a danger of an attack by the Nazis on the port of Dikson during the operation "Wunderland" , N. Yeremeyev participated in organizing the defense of the port and the island. [4] [5] [6]
According to the memoirs of A. I. Mineev (chief of the Arctic sea operations of the Northern Sea Route, assistant I. D. Papanin ), during the reflection of the raid, the boat, on which Yeremeyev was sent to the Kara ship to give the order to leave the port, came under fire:
It was decided to immediately send the Kara ship with its dangerous cargo to the Yenisei Gulf. The order of the chief of maritime operations on an immediate exit was handed over to the ship's captain by the chief of staff of maritime operations Yeremeyev. On the way, his boat fell into a zone of massive shelling of the Cone Island. Around the small vessel water tornadoes rose; it seemed that the boat was about to fly into the air. Nevertheless, the foreman of the boat D. V. Anyutin fearlessly led the boat to the ship, and the captain of "Kara" received the order in a timely manner.
- A.I. Mineev. From the notes of the war years.
In September of the same year, Yeremeyev, as chief of staff, took part in organizing a search and clarification of the fate of the ship “Alexander Sibiryakov” and the people who were on it, and in August 1944, already as deputy head of the Arctic Fleet and Port Administration of the GUSMP, he participated in events related to the rescue of the surviving passengers of the ship " Marina Raskova ", sunk by a German submarine. [7]
The Soviet reporter, a specialist in polar subjects, L. B. Khvat, in his book “On Long Voyages and Flights,” praised Yeremeyev’s competence as chief of staff for Arctic operations. [eight]
Post-war years
After the end of World War II, N. Yeremeyev headed the Department of Arctic Marine Operations of the Glavsevmorput. The authors of the book about the exploit of the Sibiryakov steamboat wrote about the post-war meeting with him:
“This man,” they told us, “is a living encyclopedia.” The Soviet North is its element. It is unlikely that anyone will be able to tell as much as he does.
After the first meeting with Nikolai Alexandrovich, we became convinced of the accuracy of the characteristics that his colleagues gave him. He patiently answered our endless questions. His answers were distinguished by impeccable accuracy and clarity, everything immediately became clear.
Eremeev knew Sibiryakov very well, at one time he even went on it. Well remembered Nikolai Alexandrovich and the people from the crew of the icebreaker: Zolotov, Chernous, Elimelakh and many others. I met Kacharava more than once after the war. The memories of Yeremeyev helped us a lot. He searched the archives for the exact text of telegrams sent by Sharshavin to Dixon after meeting with Sheer, and spoke in detail about Dixon’s fight with the fascist raider. And, finally, he suggested addresses where materials containing details of Operation Wunderland could be.

“At the head of the headquarters was Nikolai Aleksandrovich Eremeev, a man of great culture and an expert in business. He remembered not only the names of all the transports, hydrographic vessels and icebreakers that set sail, but also in which caravan they were going, under whose leadership, where they are now, when and where they should be bunkered. The chief of staff knew by the names of all captains and senior navigators their strengths and weaknesses. At noon and in the evenings, at a short operational meeting, Yeremeyev reported on where the caravans are, what plans the captains of the ships have. - ↑ Novikov L., Taradanin A.
