Biography
The son of Philip de Lannoy, the lord de Villerval, Sant, Troncienne and Vaanyi, and Marguerite Antoinette de Chatillon, the ladies de Dampière, Sompuy and Rollancourt, the grandson of the famous traveler and diplomat Gilbert de Lannoy .
Senor de Sant, Troncienne and Vaanyi, Baron de Rollancourt. Counselor and chamberlain to Emperor Charles V. In 1522 he replaced his relative Charles de Lannoy as captain of Tournai and governor of Tournai and Tournais. In 1524 or 1525 he also replaced Philippe de Beaufort on the post of the great Bali Tournai and Tournais.
At the end of 1531, the emperor arrived in Tournai, where Philippe de Lannoy and the magistrate arranged a solemn meeting and brought the keys to the city to the emperor. In December, at the Cathedral of Tournai, Charles held the twentieth chapter of the Order of the Golden Fleece ; among the newly adopted knights was Philip de Lannoy.
As governor, I spent most of my time in my city residence. Around 1534, due to ill health, he resigned his post, transferring it to his son-in-law, Jean d'Ogny, Señor de Vathin, which was approved by the emperor.
Retired to his castle Lannoy, where he died in 1535. He was buried in the parish church of Lannou among the choirs, along with his wife and son. The epitaph is given in Histoire de la ville et cite 'de Tournai .
