Biography
Pupil of the 2nd Moscow military gymnasium . He graduated from the Pavlovsk Military School , promoted to lieutenant (1878). He was seconded to the Petersburg fortress artillery (in late 1880), which gave him the opportunity to attend classes of the Imperial Academy of Arts in his spare time. [2]
From 1882 to 1886 he receives annual awards from the Academy of Arts: a small silver medal (1882), a large silver (1883), a small silver (1884), a small silver (1885), a small gold medal (1886) for the painting βEpisode from the Battle of Ostroleka in 1831 β and the Academyβs large gold medal (1887) for the implementation of the program β Attack of the Circassians by the Luben Hussars at the village of Khaidarskaya in the campaign of 1877. β The title of a class artist of the 1st degree (1887) with the right to pension abroad . A mosaic composition for the facade of the Museum of A. V. Suvorov was made on its cardboard. The artist is represented in the State Russian Museum by the painting "Counterattack of Major General Timofeev in the case at the village of Ablanovo on August 24, 1877." From the famous paintings βThe episode from the battle of Ostroleka of 1831β (1886), βThe attack by the Luben Hussars of the Circassians at the village of Khaidarskaya in the campaign of 1877β (1887). The artistβs works are in the State Russian Museum , the Research Museum of the Academy of Arts, in the Shipka-Buzuluja National Park Museum (Bulgaria) and others. [3]
