He was one of the strongest chess players in Peru in the 1950s. He was a winner of national championships.
In 1950, as part of the national team of Peru, he participated in the chess Olympiad . Speaking on the 3rd board, he played 15 games (there was no substitute member in the Peruvian team), of which he won 4, lost the same amount and 7 ended in a draw.
In 1959 he participated in the international tournament in Lima . In this tournament I scored 3 points out of 13 (+ 1, -8, = 4) and divided 12-14 places. [one]
