History
The Donbass International Movement was created at the end of the USSR by analogy with similar organizations created in the Baltic Soviet Republics (the Estonian SSR International Workers 'Movement, the Latvian SSR International Workers' Movement ) [1] According to the former KGB General Kalugin, such movements were created by the KGB of the USSR as opposed to the newly created national movements, in particular Popular front Estonia , Popular front of Latvia , People Ruhu Ukraine et al., however Donbas , unlike nailed tiyskih republics, this movement was few. After Ukraine gained independence, the main activity of the Inter-movement was to protect the interests of the region in the new conditions. According to Dmitry Kornilov and his comrades, in order to preserve the region's identity, it was necessary to stop forced Ukrainization, and to mitigate the contradictions in a heterogeneous country, Ukraine should have been turned into a federation where the Donbass will be relatively independent of Kiev. For this purpose, various street actions were held, leaflets were issued, in particular, active research and media reminders about the Donetsk-Kryvyi Rih Republic in 1918 began .
In 1992, the Youth League of the Inter-Movement was created (chairman Alexander Dmitrievsky, secretary Julius Fedorovsky).
Dmitry Kornilov in 1995 handed over the post of chairman of the IDD to journalist Sergei Chepik.
Activities
Prior to the declaration of independence of Ukraine, one of the directions of the IDD was the struggle to preserve the USSR , and then the struggle for linguistic equality in Ukraine and its federalization.
Symbols
It is interesting to note that the modern flag of the Donetsk People’s Republic dates back to the tricolor created by the activists of the DID. It was they who invented the red-blue-black tricolor, adding a black band to the colors of the flag of Soviet Ukraine, which symbolizes the coal of Donbass. It was a peculiar response of Donetsk autonomists to the spread of the blue-yellow flag of Ukrainian nationalists - supporters of the withdrawal of the Ukrainian SSR from the USSR . The general public first saw the Donbass tricolor on October 8, 1991 at a rally in the regional center. [2] [3] [4]
