Fanniidae (lat.) - a small (5 genera, 285 species) family of flies . They live mainly in the Holarctic and Neotropics , although there are exceptions. Adults are small or medium in size. The synanthropic species Fannia canicularis is distributed around the world. Family members are useful for forensic entomology .
