Solar proton storm

A proton storm ( SPE ) is a potentially dangerous manifestation of solar activity caused by streams of protons and ions , which received significant energies and speeds as a result of a solar flare or coronal mass ejection . [1] This phenomenon is also called cosmic radiation storms . [one]

Depending on their intensity, on Earth they lead to disturbances in HF communication and to malfunctions in the operation of various electrical equipment cause ionization of the upper layers of the earth's atmosphere and the formation of radioactive isotopes in it ( C-14 , Be-10 , etc.). [1] They are one of the reasons for the appearance of auroras .
