Meetings between Moscow clubs began among themselves at the beginning of the 20th century. Moscow Football League (1909-1923)

The first tournament, in the framework of which the Moscow club derby was held, was the Fulda Cup , which was held in the period 1909-1922. The competition was established by the owner of a jewelry store, sports philanthropist Robert Fedorovich Fulda . Subsequently, one of the oldest football tournaments in Russia, the Fulda Cup, became the championship for Class A teams of the Moscow Football League.
