First, completely, and subsequently most of the company belonged to AT&T. She was responsible for the development and maintenance of one of the main branches of the Unix operating system - the source code for the System V Release 4 software. Through a partnership with Novell, Univel was also responsible for the development and production of the UnixWare package operating system for Intel architecture. In addition, the company developed the transaction monitor (later transferred to BEA and Oracle ), and was responsible for a number of products related to the C ++ programming language .
