Gerhard Dörfer is a German Turkologist and Altahist, best known for learning the Turkish language.

Biography

Görhard spent his childhood in Berlin and Konigsberg . After the war , in Berlin in 1949-1954, he enrolled in the Altai language courses. In 1955-1957 he worked at the University of Mainz . In 1960, he worked at the University of Gottingen .

In 1968–1973, he studied the Khalaj and Oguz languages . In 1975-1976, Gerhard worked at the University of Istanbul . In the course of his work, Gerhard refuted the concept of the similarity of the Altai languages.
