John Kitmer ( born July 6, 1967, , England , UK ) is a British civil servant and diplomat . British Ambassador to Greece from 2013 to 2016. Commissioner of Great Britain in the British Indian Ocean Territory and British Antarctic Territory from 2016 to 2017.

Biography
Born in Cookfield on July 6, 1967. [2] In 1978-1985 he studied at - an in the city of Kingston upon Hull [3] .
He continued his education at Christens College at Cambridge University , where he graduated in 1988 with a bachelor of arts degree in antiquity . In 1988-1993 he studied at , University of Oxford , where he graduated with a master's degree in humanities in the field of antiquity. In 2005 he entered the Royal College of the University of London , which he graduated in 2007 with a master 's degree in humanities in the field of Modern Hellenic Studies [2] [3] .
In 1993 he entered the civil service. He worked in the . In 1998, as the first secretary, he was hired by the Permanent Mission of the United Kingdom to the European Union in Brussels [4] .
In 2002, he returned to London , where he held various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Commonwealth Affairs . In 2004-2006 he worked at the . In 2006-2007, he served in the , then returned to work at the Ministry of the Environment, Food and Agriculture, where he worked until 2012 [4] .
From January 2013 to December 2016 he served as the British Ambassador to Greece [5] [6] [7] . From December 2016 to July 2017, he served as the Commissioner of Great Britain in the British Indian Ocean Territory and British Antarctic Territory [4] .
