Montana consists of 56 counties.
Of the 56 names of Montana districts, 25 are also found as naming districts in other states of the country.
Only 4 of Montana’s 56 counties have a population of more than 100,000, and 45.6% of the state’s population lives in them. The 10 counties of Montana have an area of more than 10,000 km² .
The population of Montana is 1,062,305 people (2018), the area is 380,800 km² (including land — 376,992 km² ). Thus, the average number of residents of the district is 18,970 people, the average area of the district is 6,800 km² (including land — 6,732 km²), and the average population density is 2.8 persons / km². 30 of the 56 counties of Montana have a population density of one or less people / km².
Two pairs of district-city form the so-called. “ ”: this is Deer Lodge with the city of Anaconda and Silver Bow with the city of Butte .
