Hyperion proto -supercluster ( English Hyperion proto-supercluster ) - the largest known at the moment supercluster of galaxies . Its mass is 5 thousand times the mass of the Milky Way . Hyperion's proto-supercluster formed in the early Universe just 2.3 billion years after the Big Bang . It was discovered in 2018 by a group of astronomers using the VIMOS receiver at the Very Large Telescope (VLT) in Chile [1] [2] .

Features
The calculated proto-supercluster mass turned out to be more than a million billion solar masses [2] (4.8 × 10 15 solar masses ), which is 5,000 times the mass of the Milky Way ; the size of this structure is approximately 200 × 200 × 500 million light years [3] [4] . The redshift (z) is 2.45, which corresponds to 11 billion light-years from Earth. Hyperion's proto-supercluster existed when the age of the Universe was only 2.3 billion years (20% of the current age of the Universe) [5] [6] .
An article on the discovery of Hyperion proto-clusters was published in the journal Astronomy and Astrophysics in September 2018 [1] [7] .
