Bdelyrus metaensis (lat.) Is a species of lamellar beetles of the genus Bdelyrus from the subfamily Scarabaeina ( Scarabaeinae ). Neotropics : Colombia (Meta, Villavicencio). The species is named after the discovery of the type series (Meta in Colombia).

Description
Body length up to 10.16 mm, width up to 5.0 mm. The eyes are small, reduced. Clypeus steps forward. Interorbital distance is 7.0 - 7.15 eye diameters; clypeus, forehead and cheeks roughly punctured. The main body color is brownish-black, shiny [1] [2] . Dung beetle inhabits the evergreen rainforests of the Amazon. It occurs in July. Antenna with 3-segmented mace. Hind tibia with single apical spur [1] [3] [4] [5] . The species was first described in 1998 by Canadian entomologist Joyce Cook ( Joyce Cook , North Augusta, Ontario , Canada ) based on materials collected in Columbia [1] .
