Description
The shield is divided into green and azure fields; in the center is a silver horse rearing up. In the upper left corner is a silver barrel, pierced by a silver crescent. The shield is framed by a decorative cartouche with a date of 1413 and crowned with a silver crown with three turrets. The cartouche is decorated with beech leaves and a red flower of the rue (rhododendron).
Symbols
The horse is a symbol of hard work, it was used on the ancient emblem of the city. A crescent barrel indicates the legend of the Kitsu woman who drowned a Turkish warrior in a barrel. Azure means rich water resources, and green means generous vegetation.
History
The coat of arms of the city was approved during the Romanian occupation of the region in 1934 .
