Kim Daehyung

Kim Da Hyun ( cor. 김다현 ; born May 28, 1998 , better known as Dahyun [1] ) is a South Korean singer and rapper . He is the leading rapper and sub-vocalist of the popular girl group Twice .

1998–2014: The Early Years and Education

Kim Da Hyun was born May 28, 1998 in Seongnam , South Korea . In her family, in addition to her parents, she has an older brother, Mensu. The girl first became known to the public in 2011, when a video was published on YouTube with the famous “eagle dance”, which later became viral. [2] In high school, she participated in a dance competition, where she independently staged a dance and composed music, and she was noticed by JYP Entertainment employees. It is known that Dahyun passed auditions at YG Entertainment and SM Entertainment simultaneously with JYP, and decided to choose the latter. [3] Officially, the girl became a trainee on July 7, 2012. [4] During the pre-debut period, appeared in the video clips “Stop Stop It” Got7 and “ROSE” by Ouen . [5]

In March 2016, Dahyun entered Hanlim High School of the Arts along with Cheyong . [6] February 10, 2017 graduated from it. [7]

2015 − present: Sixteen, Twice debut, and solo endeavors

In April 2015, it became known that JYP, together with Mnet, would begin filming the Sixteen reality show, where sixteen agency trainings would fight for a chance to make their debut as part of the new Twice female group, where only seven would be in the final the participants; Dahyun has been confirmed as one of the girls who will take part in the show. [8] Throughout all the episodes, the girl was one of the most popular participants and ended up in the group, but at the last moment Park Chin Young changed his mind and already nine people were included in Twice - Momo and Ziyu were added. Twice debuted on October 20, 2015 with the mini album The Story Begins . [11] The group achieved significant popularity in the spring of 2016 with the release of the single " Cheer Up ", which became a hit in Korea and allowed to win the nomination "Song of the Year" at the Mnet Asian Music Awards , which marked the first desang in the band's career.
