Description
In the blue field there are crossed golden axes, at the top - a golden eight-pointed star, and at the bottom - a silver crescent with horns up. Axes reflect the name of the city.
The legend tells that the first settlers came into the woods with axes to clear a place for housing, therefore they began to be called “Sokiryans”, and then the name extended to the settlement itself. The star and crescent are historical symbols of the territorial coat of arms indicating that they belong to Bessarabia . The shield is framed with a decorative gold cartouche and surmounted by a silver crown with three teeth.
The author of the coat of arms - A. Grechilo.
Now the coat of arms can be seen at the entrance to the city, on the city council, city portal and on the emblem of the regional newspaper.
