Biography
Isidor Sharov was born on May 8, 1688 in Ladoga (now Old Ladoga ) in a merchant family. March 13, 1719 Sharov took the veil in a monk in the Valaam Monastery named Isidore [2] .
On February 12, 1724, he was appointed builder of the Valaam monastery, which had just been almost completely destroyed by fire and is considered to be one of the monasteryβs restorators [2] .
How much time Isidor Sharov led the Valaam Spaso-Preobrazhensky men's monastery information is not exactly preserved, but it is known that in 1751, at the request of the builder Ephraim, Empress Elizaveta Petrovna granted 1000 rubles for the necessary repairs and construction of monastic buildings, for church utensils and for the repair of the iconostasis and images. In 1757, the builder Ephraim was elevated to the rank of hegumen, and a period of hegumen rule began on Valaam [3] . Father Isidore is still mentioned in the annals of those years, but already among the simple monks of the Valaam Monastery [2] .
From 1757 to 1765, Joseph (Sharov) was the hegumen of the Zelenetsky-Troitsky monastery [4] . No later information about it was found.
He wrote the book: βThe unfortunate adventure of the Valaam monastery of the builder Joseph Sharov β [2] .
