Biography

Julia Lear was born on November 11, 1991 in the city of Ludwigsfeld , the state of Brandenburg . She was trained in Halle in the local eponymous rowing club.

For the first time declared itself in rowing in 2008, winning the gold medal in the pair of four at the junior world championship in Austria. A year later, in similar competitions in France, she won the pair-twos program.

In 2010, she won the pair fours at the World Youth Championship in Brest.

In 2011, the four were the best at the youth world championship in Amsterdam. She noted her performance at the home stage of the World Cup in Hamburg, where she showed the fourth result in twos.

In 2015, she won a bronze medal in twos at the World Championships in Egbeleth , losing to the athletes from New Zealand and Greece in the final.

Received a silver medal in twos at the 2016 European Home Championships in Brandenburg , then represented the country at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . As part of a four-seater double crew, which also included rowers Annekatrin Thiele , Lisa Schmidla and Karina Behr , beat all their rivals in the final and won the Olympic gold medal.
