History

In 2006, Jacek Mlochowski created Geneteka, inspired by the nationwide marriage index until 1899, created by Mark Minakovsky. Jacek Mloczowski created a separate project in which births and deaths were also attached to marriages, and when he became president of the PGO, Geneteka automatically became the project of the PGO. The following administrators of Geneteka were: Leszek Zwicklinski, Marta Nalazek (until 2014), Tomasz Turniak. The first parish, whose resources were located in Genetek, was Bialobrzegi near Radom. Then, in agreement with the head of the Directorate of State Archives, the metryki.genealodzy.pl project was created on the basis of photographing resources, diocesan and parish archives [1] [2]

Project Goal

The aim of the project is to create a database accessible on the Internet that contains the names and surnames of people who appear in church metric books of individual parishes . The intention of the creators of genetics, as well as other metric index databases, is to facilitate genealogical search by indicating the arrival , year and other information related to the desired surname.
