Baruch Berkovits (1926–2012) is a medical engineer and inventor. He invented one of the variants of the defibrillator and an artificial pacemaker [2] .

Biography
Born in Czechoslovakia . Parents and sister Berkovitsa died in Auschwitz . In the 1950s he emigrated to the USA. From 1975 until his retirement he worked for Medtronic . In 1982, for his contribution to science, he received an award from the Heart Rhythm Community.
