History
The stadium was opened in 1953, and was later renovated in 1982. [one]
It was originally planned to be repaired in the fall of 2007. However, the leadership of Rovaniemi decided to postpone the reconstruction until at least 2008. Premier League chairman Jan Walden said that if the RoPS reaches the Premier League, he will no longer be allowed to play in a stadium that does not meet the league's requirements. [2]
In late June 2008, reconstruction began at the stadium when lighting masts were built. Spotlights appeared a little later than the original schedule in early September. In the summer of 2009, the artificial turf was replaced and a new office building was built. With the exception of the last four home matches, RoPS held another home game on the Suswood field. RoPS received a three-time consecutive ban on playing on an unqualified field, and also avoided sanctions by the league, even though a fine of 75,000 euros was not paid until August 24, 2008. During the reconstruction, a 105-year-old grenade was discovered on the site of the building. [3]
In the summer of 2015, a new reconstruction was completed. The opening took place on July 10, 2015. Then the opening match was played as part of the Championship of Finland with the capital club HIK. The new main stand was designed by Arkkitehtityöhuone Artto Palo Rossi Tikka. [four]
Feature
There are three treadmills on the central field, and a fourth on the front. The tracks are covered in green. The main stand has 2,003 seats and a side stand with 800 seats. [five]
