History
According to archival materials and chronicles kept by old-timers of the village, Chukhuryurd appeared in 1841 on the site of the former natural boundary with the same name. The sectarians, Molokans , who were sent by the tsarist administration from the Don coast ( Novo-Cherkassky district , Nikolaevka stanitsa) [4], founded the head. According to legend, at first, the settlers were allocated land somewhere at the foot of the Karabakh Mountains, where they did not survive due to the unfavorable climate for them and from where they moved to the town of Topchi by the river Ah-Okha (now in the Ismailly region ). The second settlement also proved to be short-lived due to the lack of a reliable source of food water. Soon he moved to other districts of Azerbaijan, including some in Shemakha district , where they founded the present village of Chukhuryurd [5] .
According to the Caucasian calendar of 1910, in 1908, 1,154 people, mostly Russians, lived in the village of Chukhur-Yurt, Shemakha district, Baku province [3] .
