Geography
It is located in the southwestern part of the republic and is located on the left bank of the Urukh River , 9 km north-west from the center of the rural settlement of Matsuta , 33 km south of Chikola and 100 km south-west of Vladikavkaz .
The absolute height on the territory of the village is 1569 meters above sea level [1] .
History
The first settlements on the site of the present Donifars and Lezgor date from the 2nd millennium BC, and the large settlements date from the 7th – 4th centuries BC. er By this time, settlements in this area were already a major industrial center for the manufacture of ceramics, bronze and other goods, which, according to the North Caucasian Archaeological Expedition of the State Historical Museum, were exported to the Black Sea coast, and from there to Ancient Greece . Particularly rapidly, the settlement on the site of the current Donifars, developed in the Sarmatian and Alanian period, as evidenced by the archaeological finds of these periods. However, after the campaigns of Timur , settlements in the area, for some time came to desolation. [4] And up to the entry of Ossetia into the Russian Empire in 1774, it had a long history of population recovery.
In the late Middle Ages, in spite of the fact that the principles of military democracy operated in Donifars, and all the basic vital issues of the village were decided by Nykhas , the village fell under the strong influence of the Kabardian princes. Entering into dynastic marriages with local generic surnames, they spread Islam and Donifars became the center of the spread of this world religion in Highland Digoria [5] [6] .

Attractions
- Donifarsky Nykhas - according to legends, if any issue could not be resolved in other villages of Highland Digoria, then they came here. V. Miller, in the “Ossetian etudes”, visiting Nafas Donifarsky noted that the Russian judicial system has a lot to learn in decision-making and sentencing from mountain meetings [8] .
- Ancient temples and sanctuaries, among which the most revered in Donifarso is “Satayi Obau” - an ancient Christian temple [9] .
