History
The theater was opened in 2006. It was located in a former cinema, which was reconstructed for theatrical productions for three years. The scene is 8 meters deep with double wings at 180 degrees. The basis of the troupe was the release of the Zhurgenov Theater and Art Academy directed by Nurkanat Zhakypbay, who came with his own performances. [one]
In the first season of the Tazabekov Theater, such performances as The Inspector General, Goats Corps and Bayan Slu, Zhanpida (Flea) by Chingiz Aitmatov were played. At the same time, three of the four performances were theses and only Genghis Khan remained in the theater’s repertoire. [2] This production is a mixture of the works of Aitmatov and Kekilbayev, and the emphasis is on the plastic of the actors. The great difficulty for the actors was their young age, as it was necessary to get used to the role of 40 and 60-year-old Genghis Khan, as well as 160-year-old fortuneteller. [3]
In the spring of 2007, together with the newspaper Anatili, a literary contest was held among young poets and writers. Their revised works formed the basis of new scenarios for performances. [four]
In the summer of 2007, Zhakypbay left the theater with some of the actors, as a result of which the development stake was placed on invited directors, and the troupe was supplemented to 12 actors. Four premieres were planned for the 2007-2008 season, including the production of The Apple Tree by Taldykorgan director Murat Akhmanov. [5]
As of 2014, the theater continues to function and its auditorium has 262 seats. [6]
