Biography
Detlef Franke defended his doctoral dissertation at the University of Hamburg in 1983, the title of the dissertation is "The Ancient Egyptian Kingdom during the Middle Kingdom" ( German: Altägyptische Verwandtschaftsbezeichnungen im Mittleren Reich ). He then received the highest academic qualifications at the University of Heidelberg in 1994 with a thesis "At the Hekaib Sanctuary on Elephantine . History of a Provincial Sanctuary in the Middle Kingdom." ( German: Das Heiligtum des Heqaib auf Elephantine. Geschichte eines Provinzheiligtums im Mittleren Reich ). He subsequently taught at this university until his death. [1] Throughout his career, Detlef Franke studied mainly the Middle Kingdom of ancient Egypt. [1] His most recent project was the creation of a Middle Kingdom stele catalog, housed in the British Museum . [2]
