Club career
He trained at the Penafiel Club Football Academy. In 2017, he became a player in the Boavista club [1] . In the main squad, the Panther made its debut on October 7, 2018 in the match of the Portuguese championship against the Aves club, having played the whole game on the field, which ended with the Boavista victory 1-0 [2] .
At the beginning of 2019, interest in the Portuguese defender was shown by the Italian clubs Internazionale and Lazio and the English Watford [3] [4] . In January 2019, negotiations were underway to transfer Gonçalo to the Belgian Brugge for 2.5 million euros, but they broke and the Portuguese remained in Boavista [5] .
Team Career
In November 2018, he made his debut in the Portuguese national team under 19 years old , playing in matches against Armenia and the Netherlands [6] .
