Biography

He was a serf of Lieutenant Yegor Skudinov. Arrived in St. Petersburg in 1824. At this time he lives with his owner in the breech house of the Life Guard of the Grenadier Regiment. Since August 24, 1825, Krylov begins to attend classes of the Imperial Academy of Arts as a freelance artist. [3]

He received a pension from the Imperial Society for the Encouragement of Arts [4]. He was a member of the circle of artists and students of A. G. Venetsianov . [five]

By 1826, a work (cardboard, oil) called "Kitchen" [6]

Got freestyle in July 1828. He studies as a high-school student at the Medical and Surgical Academy (1828-1831), while continuing to attend drawing classes at the Academy of Arts.

His work β€œJohn the Baptist with the Lamb” (a copy from the painting β€œJohn the Baptist in the Desert”) dates to 1829. [3]

Received from the Academy of Fine Arts the title of Free Artist (1833) for his "Portrait of Vitovtov . " In the 1830s, the painter works in the field of portraiture. [3]

He received the title of "appointed to academics" (1836) [7] . In 1836, the β€œdesignated G. A. Krylov” Academy of Arts was given a program on historical painting: he was supposed to portray β€œMoses, Looking from the Mountain to the Promised Land” . The painting was successfully completed and exhibited at the academic exhibition of 1836. [3]

He was awarded the title of academician of painting (1839) for the portrait of the sculptor V.I. Demut-Malinovsky . [one]

The last works of the artist were two images: β€œThe Host of Hosts” and β€œ12 Year Holidays” . [3]
