Beyuk Kaghrizli ( azerb. Böyük Kəhrizli ) is a village in the Kagrizlinsky administrative-territorial district of the Agjabadi region of Azerbaijan .

Content

Etymology

It comes from the words beyuk (from Azeri - “big”) and Kyagrizli (name of the village). The toponym Kagrizli himself comes from the word kagriz (from Azeri - “well”) [1] .

History

In 1907-1909, the enlightener Hamida Mammadkulizade opened a library at the public school, a weaving mill, a hospital and a new school [2] .

The village of Kagrizlu in 1913 according to the administrative-territorial division of the Elizabethpol province belonged to the Gindarkh rural community of Shushinsky district [3] .

In 1926, according to the administrative-territorial division of the Azerbaijan SSR, the village belonged to the dagger of Agjabeda of the Agdam district [4] .

After the reform of the administrative division and the abolition of counties in 1929, the Kyagrizlinsky village council was formed in the Agjabadi district of the Azerbaijan SSR .

According to the administrative division of 1961 and 1977, the village of Boyuk Kyagrizli was part of the Kyagrizlinsky village council of the Agjabadi district of the Azerbaijan SSR [5] [6] .

In 1999, administrative reform was carried out in Azerbaijan and the Kagrizlinsky municipality of the Agjabadi district was established within the Kagrizlinsky administrative-territorial district [7] .

Geography

Boyuk Kyagrizli is located on the banks of the Karkarchay River .

The village is located 1.5 km from the center of the municipality of Bal Kagrizli , 31 km from the district center of Agjabadi and 308 km from Baku . The nearest railway station is Agdam (operating - Khalaj).

The village is located at an altitude of 153 meters above sea level.

In 1886, 150 people lived in the village, all of them were Azerbaijanis, by religion - Shiite Muslims.

The population is mainly engaged in cotton, livestock and grain cultivation.

Famous Natives

  • Jalil Mammadkulizade - a famous Azerbaijani journalist, lived and worked here in a public school in 1907-1921.
  • Hamida Mammadkulizade - enlightener, public figure, was born and lived here in 1873-1921.

Climate

The average annual temperature in the village is +14.2 ° C. The village has a semi-desert climate .

Infrastructure

In Soviet times, a school was located in the village [10] .

The village has a post office, a secondary school, a library [13] , a cultural center, and a medical center.
