Luc Luyks ( Dutch: Luc Luycx ; April 11, 1958 , Aalst , West Flanders , Belgium ) - Belgian computer engineer , medalist , known for developing the design of the reverse of euro coins.

For 15 years he worked as an employee of the Royal Belgian Mint .
In 1997, a pan-European competition was announced for the best design of euro coins. L. Luyks developed his series of coins using CorelDRAW and submitted them to the competition. His projects were liked by the general European public, in the European Commission and the European Parliament , and on June 13, 1997, the European Council announced that the Lauks projects were the best presented. He won the pan-European competition for the best draft of Euro coins, which were put into circulation on January 1, 2002.
L. Luyks received a reward of 24,000 ECU . His designs are currently presented on all euro coins. The reverse figure symbolizes the unity of the European Union . The obverse of coins issued in each of the eurozone countries is different and approved by national parliaments. The signature on the coin is two intersecting letters LL, resembling the number 4.
L. Luyks also developed a model of Belgian coins and francs. He is engaged in the creation of commemorative medals and postal stamps of Belgium.
