Cynthia Gregory ( born 1946 , Los Angeles ) is an American ballet dancer [1] [2] , chairman of the board of directors of the Association for the Change of Profession (since 1991).

Biography
Cynthia Gregory was born July 8, 1946 in Los Angeles [3] . At five, she began to practice ballet. At the age of 7, she first appeared on the cover of Dance magazine. She studied dance with Carmelita Maracci, Mikhail Panayev, R. Rossellat. At age 14, she received a Ford Foundation scholarship to study at the San Francisco Ballet School. A year later, since 1961 , she began performing with this troupe. She took part in the ballets of Lew Christensen. In 1967 , she made her debut in the part of Odette - Odile in the ballet Swan Lake . She danced in such ballets as “The Dark Elegy ”, “Tide of the Surf” and “ Lilac Garden ” by Anthony Tudor; "Garden Feast", "Schubertiad" and "The Eternal Idol" by Michael Smuin, " Pavan Moor " by Jose Limon , " River " by Alvin Ailey and others.
She was a leading soloist of the American Ballet Theater (New York). At the end of 1975 she left the troupe and retired, but a year later she returned to the stage. In 1979, she danced at Agnes de Mill in The River Falls Legend . She completed her performing career in 1991 .
Rudolf Nuriev called Cynthia Gregory “the prima ballerina of the assoluta of America”.
He is the author of the book “Ballet is the best exercise for the body” (1986) and the book for children “Cynthia Gregory dances“ Swan Lake “” (1990).
In 2004 she was a member of the jury of the Benois Dance Ballet Prize.
